Doomsday (the movie) is nice for some insight into the post-apocalyptic world, as are some of the later incarnations of Resident Evil. (Love RE, hope we get to see more of that soon! )

I especially like the Fall Out 3 game and the Mad max movies. With a lot of car wrecks, mines everywhere. A grim paradise indeed.
