You can pick anyone as your leader, as long as he is 'eligible' (for instance, you cannot pick a Slave with the Matriarchy slave permanent ability).
And you can field as many Controller drone as you like, providing you don't exceed the points' limit of course (remember, 100 points is the most balanced type of game). Feel free to ask absolutely anything, it will help us finish the english FAQ  And, for beginners, be sure to check the 'Preparation phase explained' answer : here, it always worth an eye
