First game, and two questions
Hi

I had my first ever game of Eden last night. A couple of questions came up and I would be grateful for your thoughts:

1. Black Kunoichi - when using the Acrobatic move ability does this only apply to a Movement action or can the 10cm extra move be used when Charging as well?

2. Yellow Gaki - when using the Alpha Drain ability does the -2 PSI apply only to opponents within 15cm at the time when the ability is triggered or would it apply to any opponents entering the 15cm zone during the rest of that round?

Thanks, Andy

RE: First game, and two questions
Good questions!

I'm not a rules guru or anything, but here's my take on things:

1) Eden uses capitalization to distinguish between actions as game terms and stuff that's just called the same. E.g. Black Kunoichi's Slaughter ability references Melee Attack as opposed to a melee attack. So therefore I believe that Acrobatic Move adds 10cm to all movement, whether it be a part of a Movement or a Charge.

Edit: actually, I checked the French card and it has capitalized the Déplacement, so it might actually be that he doesn't get the bonus to charge. I checked also Freedom's card (the little Resistance robot) and its +5cm to movement is worded really clear that it affects charge distance as well (though I don't see it charging much... Wink). So yeah, I reverse my opinion - I think that Black Kunoichi doesn't get the bonus when charging.

Hopefully Berf comes around and makes it all clear, though.

2) I went looking for the answer on the French side and found this:

The sixth post seems to answer your question. If I understand correctly, Alpha Drain affects only the fighters who are within 15cm when the effect is triggered but suffer from it for the whole round even if they leave the vicinity of the Gaki (or it gets destroyed or whatever).

Resistance is non-futile.

RE: First game, and two questions
Well, it's been a while since I came here, sorry about that.
Luckily, Lemminkäinen knows the game very well and I can't see any flaw in his explanations Wink
I'll just add these explanations :
1) AndyT was right to be confused, th lack of capitalization is a mistake here. So the Acrobatic move ability only works with a simple Move action. In fact, we are currently working on an updated version of the rules (more on that soon enough Cool ) with no capitalization, in order to prevent that kind of mistake with translations, but with extensive specifications about the actions. Just to let you know.
2) Only the fighters (all of them, yours included !) who are within 15cm when the effect is triggered but suffer from it, Lemm's right. The easy way to spot that kind of differences is to check whether the ability is a permanent one or an action one. As the alpha drain is an action one, it only works during the Gaki's activation and therefore only if it's activated. Note that you can do it multiple times, as long as you pay for it Smile

RE: First game, and two questions
Thank you for the answers, very helpful. I think the Yellow Gaki card specifically says that Alpha Drain only applies to the opponents fighters but it makes sense that it should only apply when the ability is triggered.

A new rulebook sounds great, maybe with slightly larger print for those of aged the wrong side of 50? ;-)
