The shelters / building are really cool.
May be you could add extra details (cracks, peeble) and more colors on the table itself to simulate dust / earth etc.... |

Yeah, I thought about some twisted trees or a pool of chemical waste. Time will tell...

Looking good! You might also give the ground a bit of a wash to add a little bit of color (cheap craft store acrylics work great for this). That way it would add some atmosphere and help it match the table.

Add some juice of rust colour ( vermin brown for GW colour or ground mat for Prince august colour ) to finish perfectly them ... I like to play on it ^^ |
