First game questions
Hello fellow wasteland wanderers!

We ordered 3 out of the four factions (all but the ninja-robots) and had our first game yesterday. It went rather smoothly, though, there were a couple of questions, regarding the game.

First: You choose one mission, right? So may I choose one mission card from the i.e. Jokers card deck, which does not carry the Joker gang sign on its card (ergo just the red flag)? If so, when are the ISC cards going to be released, as I want these mission options as well!

2. The Mutants have a mission called: Sacred Hunt. So far I could not find any cards for the NFC (non fighter characters). Are they not released, will there be a guide how to build your own? (If seen the Feb releases, but I am thinking of a bigger variety).

3. The Joker have mission called: Ambush. I think the mission card is a bit imprecise in the last bit: Do the Jokers get 10 points for people who are wounded or just completely unwounded?

4. Is it correct that Elenia can't damage Large Belly with her throwing knives?

We enjoyed the first game quite a bit and so far the balance seems to be good. We already start to come up with our own ideas for missions, espc. for the Matriarchy (something like defend the Broodmother, or for the opposing team consisting of men, soil some holy statues...) but we will get some more games under our belts before we start designing our own missions. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Just on a side note, there are several spelling mistakes in the english version of the game. If you are interested in it, I could make a list of all the errors we encounter (one example is on the website as well as on the 3rd site of the game description the Strategic points are abbreviated to PS instead of SP, this happens in the rulebook with Action points as well) and post it here.
My French is very bad and I hardly understand anything on the bigger forum, so please update us with battle reports from the first tourneys and such, that would be awesome.

Thanks for designing a very beautiful game with some really unique ideas which seem to be working as well, which is rare!
Cheers!

RE: First game questions
I've not played any game but I've read the rules and I think I can help you.

First: Yes, you can use any card which isn't a faction card, regardless the pack you got it. There are plenty of tactical cards that are not limited by faction and can be very interesting too.

Second: You can donwload them in french, but I guess they will eventually appear in English.

Third: I have the card in frech but guessing I think you are asking about "le traquenad". With this mission you get all de VP for killing enemies and 10 per ally who survive, I'm right? If it is so, in the French version is stated that your troops have to be unharmed.

Forth: I think you are passing over that the combat roll successes are added to the strength of the weapon (sstep 5).

I hope I've helped you.

RE: First game questions
Hello, I'm glad you enjoy the game.

1. Yes, you can. (our Spanish friend is right)
2. The first NFC are released in February, as you mentioned. We plan to release more of them but it takes time to sculpt and test and our schedule is sadly not infinitly expandable.
3. Concerning the mission "Ambush/Le traquenard", the points are for unwounded people (unwounded = no wounded limb).
4. No it isn't correct. Elenia can damage Abama (but it may be hard).
Example : First she roll CBT+1 = 4 dices (as indicated by the wapon) with a level of difficulty of 3 (Abama's speed). Let's say she rolls 1, 3, 5 & 6 with a localization index in the head (1). She got three successes which she can attribute to re-localization or strength. She decided not to relocalize and so attributes all successes to her weapon's strength. This strength is equal to 1 (noted on the card), plus 3 success, she rolls 4 dices with a level of difficulty of 5 (Abama's vigor). She rolls 2, 4, 5 & 6 : 2 successes. As a consequence, she wounds Abama twice in the head. Abama's full protection (Pr+1) reduces the number of wounds he suffers by one. He consequently check only one wound in the head.
I hope you understand it now.

Do not hesitate to post ideas for missions.
For mistakes in English, we'll be very glad if you can list the one you encounters (by PM or on the forum, as you wish).
I'll see what I can do with the battle reports, but translation is a huge amount of work, I can't promise you anything. Nevertheless, you can use an auto-translation tool (like Google Translate or Yahoo Babelfish).
You can however see the final ranking of the first couple of tournaments here (we hope all such events will be registered on T3, which helps us gaining a general view of how people play) :

RE: First game questions
Thank you both very much! We are going to playtest a bit more on the weekend.

I misread the ranged attack part, but after rereading it and your nice explanation all questions are answered.

Next question would be, can I use any Tactical Card as well? That sounds nice, but would require every player to buy every card deck, right? (yeah, or print them out in French...) How did you solve this during your first tournament, did everybody bring his own cards, were copies allowed?

For the NPCs: Sorry if I sounded demanding, I just wanted to make sure, that I didn't oversee them. We will order some of the Feb releases and build our own Zombies and Wasteland creatures and I will report back how they performed.

We started a list with the English mistakes we found so far, I will send you the list when I read all the cards at least once without gaming at that moment.

Thanks for the quick answers, cheers!

RE: First game questions
The cards can be downloaded from this post.
But I will soon add a link on the "Eden" part of the site.
Jugger and Sered will also put a link on the French official site.

About 50% of the tactical cards can be used with any factions.
No need to by the starter boxes to get them all anyhow : you can get the cards separately from our web shop Wink

Finally, I'll create a "mission" and "tactical" chapter on the forum for members willng to share their own creations

I'll also add a "translation matter" section if you have english mistakes to report from our offical cards

RE: First game questions
Okay thanks again for the answers (but seriously, 6.30 am... you are crazy, in a pleasant way!).

Are the ISC cards up for sale soon as well? I am about to order the new releases and would wait a bit, if you say they will be up in a week or two, so that I would have all the card sets.

I just skimmed through the new models and stumbled upon the ISC worm with the ability: Reptation. This word does not exist in English as far as I know and would probably be translated into: creeping, crawling or sliding. The ability "Constriction" has PA instead of AP in the brackets as well as 1/tour instead of 1/round. The ability "Burrowing" states : if the Green M. is free, remove it from the "ground", which sounds a bit awkward, may instead of ground you should put in play, game or table. Further down in the description of the ability you state: ... the Green M. may cannot... There you have to get rid of one verb of the two (and I think you meant cannot instead of may). The abilities Serpent Form, Constriction and Attack Vector have got one SPACE too much before the double point. In the description of Serpent Form you lack one comma before the "if (the result...)".

I got some spare time on Sunday and will proofread all the cards then, but I will probably not finish all of them before I get back to gaming... Thanks for posting these, the new figs are awesome!

Have a nice weekend!

"sliding" sounds better to me than the two other, but couldn't we say "slither" or "slithering" ? I think it applies better to snakes, doesn't it ? (yes, I have read Harry Potter in english Big Grin )

Depends on what you want to express, yes, slither/-ing is a possible collocation with snakes (and probably the most used one as well, espc. since Harry Potter Wink ). If you want to express the slow way of getting near a target I would suggest creep (as snails creep as well). If I translated la reptation correctly, creeping would be more accurate, but I admit this is nitpicking.

RE: First game questions
Hi !

You may found the answer in the definition of the Movement action (p16-17), especially in the second paragraph :

Quote:Movement (1 AP, 3/round): the fighter moves immediately to a maximum distance of 10 cm. He can not come into contact with an enemy fighter at the end of this movement.
If the fighter that performs this action is not free, he must make a withdrawal before moving. For that, he makes a SPD roll where the difficulty level is the highest SPD value of the fighters in contact. If he fails to score at least one success, each opponent fighter in contact with him may spend 1 AP and immediately execute an attack against him. During this attack the fighter automatically performs a passive type reaction and then he can move. The fighters who carried out the attack are not considered activated if they were not before.
Hope it answers your question. Wink
