Does charging actually do anything?
Had first game tonight (awesome btw) but it arose that , according to the rules, charging doesn't actually give you any benefits.
This seems odd to me, is it right? |

RE: Does charging actually do anything?
It's right, the Charge action doesn't give you any benefits.
Still, it is the only way to come in contact with an opponent fighter (special abilities notwithstanding*). But the Charge action being performed during your activation, some game effects can be triggered this way (like the Brutal charge ability). Also, you can trick some fighter with a 'double' Charge (coming in contact with two opponent's fighters) and therefore be in contact with hard-to-catch fighters (like Yuri or the Yellow Komuso), assuming you target the other fighter first with your Charge action. Movement is a key element to the game mechanics, so stay alert and watch out for unexpected moves ! *I hope I used this word correctly |

Cheers berf, I could have sworn I replied to this earlier!
Boyzie: I think he means that you can charge one model but do so in a way that will also engage another, should the possibility present itself. Sound advice, and a new use for the carmin Hadakauma! |

RE: Does charging actually do anything?
Dangerousbeans is right, you can perform a Charge action and end up in contact with more than one opponent's fighter (great with the Hadakauma, that's for sure
![]() ![]() Moreover, I'd like to emphasize the fact that, as you declare which opponent is the target of your Charge after you came in contact, charging two (or more) opponents is a very efficient way to get round certain pesky abilities, like the Dodge permanent ability (Yuri, Angela, etc.) or the Dissonant prayer permanent ability (Yeollw Komuso), which works only if the fighter is the target of the Charge action (I think this clarification is very important as these abilities do not use the word 'target' in their description). |
